• Security and privacy, computer hacking, informática and cybercrime
 
• Intelectual property and plagiarism
• Privacy and protection of individual data
• Social networks and how their social impact
• How to search for bibliographic references and write essays and articles
• Other related themes and case studies

Each theme will be covered with more references; the appropriate place to find them is the online documentation of the course.

Teaching method

The course comprises any  or all of the following: lectures, seminars conducted by instructors or invited speakers, and films (followed by debates). References to papers and themes for research will be provided to support the written group work. 

 

Evaluation method

Obtaining "Frequência":
  • Attendance of a minimum of 50% of classroom activities and 40% of the presentation sessions( NOTE: Classroom attendance in the 1st class is not registered )
  • Students that are employed or that got "frequência" on 2017/18 are exempt
    • MUST inform instructors, and grade PI = zero
  • Group work (5 students): Paper graded >= 8 points (out of 20)

 Two written tests (TE), with a mamimum duration of 1h each

  • Average of both TE >= 8 points.
  • Final exam as an alternative
 

Additional individual grade - Participation in classes (PI)

 
Final grade = 0,3 * TE1 + 0,3*TE2 + 0,3 TG + 0,1 PI
