Objectives
1. To know and understand the differences between Ethics, Moral and Deontology;
2. To comprehend the evolution of the currents of moral ethics throughout history;
3. To know and comprehend the current modern ethics;
4. To recognize and understand the principles of medical ethics, as well as its origin;
5. Understand what is moral reasoning;
6. To recognize strategies to solve ethical dilemmas;
7. To recognize the main dilemmas of research ethics.

Subject matter
Ethics, Moral and Deontology
Main currents of moral philosophy throughout history: the divine command; the cultural relativism; the subjectivist ethics; the utilitarianism, the Kantian ethics and the "categorical imperative"; the social contract; the ethics of virtue, the principlism;
How the principles of medical ethics have developed: the Nuremberg code; the Declaration of Helsinki. The current principles of medical ethics: Autonomy, Beneficence, no maleficence, justice.
Other principles: privacy, confidentiality, informed consent, dignity, right to life;
What is moral reasoning? Levels of development of moral reasoning. How to resolve an ethical dilemma.
Traditional norms of science: universalism, Communion, disinterest, skepticism.
Principles of Ethics in Clinical Research: Value Research, scientific validity, selection of research subjects, risk-benefit ratio, review of protocols, informed consent, respect for subjects.

Teaching method
The theoretical classes will take place through lectures with questioning.
The theoretical-practical classes will include presentation and guided discussions about case studies.
Evaluation method
The evaluation will consist of an individual monograph.
