Objectives
1) To consolidate de ability to conceive, present and set up an advanced Art Theory research project within History of Art’s framework;
2) To strengthen knowledge and the capacity to analyse the ideas and debates that structure the field of Art Theory taking into consideration their articulation with criticism and historiography;
3) To strengthen knowledge and the capacity to analyse the ideas and debates that structure the field of Art Theory taking into consideration their articulation with artistic production and its transformations;
4) To approach Art Theory’s main issues and debates considering a broader multidisciplinary field of knowledge.

Teaching method
Apart from a couple of introductory lectures given by teacher, the course has a seminar-profile that involves the analysis and discussion of pre-appointed texts by the students, and of the thematic essays written by them on course’s contents and their intersection with the specific area of study chosen by each student (the essay has 18-20 pages).
Evaluation method
The assessment of this course is based on 2 elements:
1) the final written essay (50%)
2) the presentation and discussion of pre-defined texts in the seminars, as well as the presentation and discussion of the written essay (50%)
