Objectives
At the completion of this course students will be able to:
a) Use regression and correlation analysis techniques between three or more variables
b) Use multivariate statistical methods, spatial statistics and graphs
c) Apply quantitative techniques to create spatial typologies
d) Apply quantitative techniques using spatial statistics and graphs
e) Develop geographical analysis skills based on quantitative techniques

Subject matter
1. Geographical analysis: i) Regression model for three or more variables; multiple correlation and partial correlation between three or more variables; ii) Spatial Statistics; iii) Networks and Graphs
2. Geographical synthesis: i) Factor analysis; ii) Geographical interpretation of factor analysis
3. Types: i) Cluster analysis; ii) Mapping spatial typologies
4. Structuring information, creating trends, patterns and geographic data clustering
5. Creating spatial typologies: i) preparing data arrays; ii) applying data standardization and simplification methods; iii) applying data classification methods; iv) analysing types; v) interpreting geographic typologies.
