Objectives
a) Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation
b) Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with francophone native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
c) Can understand detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options

Subject matter
Understanding and listening assignments from audio and video recordings. Translation of short articles published in the Portuguese press and refering to matters of society: the aim of this exercise is to reflect on the functioning of the two languages (French and Portuguese) and the relationship between language and culture. We will also study short stories as well as parts of novels from the 19th, 20th and 21th. century in French literature. We will do so by setting up lexical fields, syntax and cultural elements in order to lay the foundations of our interpretations.
