Objectives

1. To acquire an overview of topics of study and different methodological approaches within the Music Teaching and Psychology of Music fields.

2. To deepen topics of study and methodological tools that might be used for studying innovative issues.

3. To develop research skills needed for collecting and selecting information.

4. To apply critical analysis skills to scientifically refereed publications and to other contributions from the specialty.

5. To acquire knowledge and skills needed to write a review literature article in a defined topic.





Prerequisites

None.

Subject matter

A) A global overview of the study topics which are part of the Psychology of Music and Pedagogy of Music fields.

B) Experience of music group dynamics exercices related to musical learning and human interaction studies.

C) Research sources and pitfalls in reviewing scientific literature in specific areas. Topics related to writing literature review articles in the thematic areas of musical development and arts in infancy.

D) Questions and problems in musical development domain. Tools and methodological issues with relevance for its study.

Teaching method

The teaching methodology is based on group discussions and dialogues adjusted to individual diferences concerning the prepared readings. In preparation, students are required to read texts, as well as use group-based methods to encourage active partipation of all involved.

Evaluation method

Evaluation will be based on participation during classes through the sequential submission of the following written texts: 1) List of bibliographic resources, with a short justification, about its relevance concerning a specific problem (20%). 2) Anotated review of three bibliographic resources included in 1). (30%). 4) An annotated literature review covering a theme selected at the beginning of the semester (50%).
