Schedule

It depends on the working method of each training course. The working time for the classes will be agreed with each PhD student, or when there are more than 10 students in each year, it will be agreed with all students of the programme.

Education objectives

Goals

The main goals of the 3rd Cycle  leading to the degree of PhD in Chemistry are:

  1. To provide doctoral students with the skills, abilities, advanced research, and tools in the specialties of Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry;
  2. To develop capabilities to design, deploy, adapt and perform original research, respecting quality standards, academic integrity and ethics, and worthy of international publicity in publications assessed by peers;
  3. To provide doctoral students with a multidisciplinary doctoral training that synergistically complete the comprehensive knowledge acquired in their doctoral specialties with ts integration into the labor market.

Research/Academia, Chemical, Clinical and Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Food, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industry.

Access conditions

Application Requirements

  1. Holder of a master degree in any area pertaining to the Exact Sciences or Engineering, or recognized equivalent;
  2. Holder of a master degree from a foreign institution;
  3. Holder of a higher education degree from a foreign institution in any one of the aforementioned areas, considered by the Scientific Council of the School of Sciences and Technology of the New University of Lisbon to satisfy the prerequisites for an undergraduate degree;
  4. Holder of academic, scientific or professional qualifications considered by the Scientific Council of the School of Sciences and Technology of the New University of Lisbon duly to attest to the candidate´s ability to undertake a corresponding cycle of studies.

Criteria for the ranking of candidates

  1. Overall grade-point average of undergraduate course
  2. Scientific and professional qualifications (curriculum vitae)
  3. Successful interview, when required

Structure
