Education objectives
Promote academic education that enables personal and professional development of teachers and other professionals in the field of education within a logic of lifelong training, and provides enrichment and improvement of the professional practices and organizations in which they work;
Respond the needs and motivations of master students in various specialization areas,including reflecting on the theoretical knowledge of teaching and learning,deepening of scientific knowledge that is taught in school and other organizations,as well as questioning teaching practices and forms of school and educational organization and promoting the formation of reflective practitioners;
Deepening skills in areas such as learning, interdisciplinary,curriculum development,research methodologies, technology,school management and interconnections with non-school learning;
Analyze school and education,in a comprehensive and multidisciplinary perspective, integrating various actorsand levels of education.
Access conditions
- Candidates must hold a degree that enables them to pursue the profession of educator or teacher of differentlevels of education, being valued prior professional experience in carrying out these activities in the evaluation of the applications and in the selection of candidates.
- Holders of other degrees can also join this master course if they are exercising currently (or have been previously) professional activities in the area of education, for example as technical staff or as animators and sociocultural mediators.
All of these conditions shall be framed in accordance to Article 17 of Decree-Law n º 74/2006 of 24 March.

Evaluation rules
The following modes of evaluation are used with regard to academic qualifications:
- Evaluation based solely on an examination or completion of a final project.
- Evaluation based on work done throughout the semester excluding examination or final project. In these courses students can expect to carry out, for example, laboratory activities, mini-tests, tests, individual or group projects, seminar-related activities, any combination of which will be used to determine the final grade.
- Evaluation based obligatorily on an examination or a final project. In these courses there extists a form of evaluation similar to one of the aformentioned activities in paragraph 2 as well as a form of evaluation based on a final exam.
- Evaluation based on work done throughout the semester with the possibility of foregoing an examination or a final project.
The final Dissertation (or Project) involves a public discussion with a Jury.
