Objectives

It is the main objective of this curricular unit (UC) to put into perspective the concepts related to the conception, development and management of geographic information systems (GIS) through the resolution of several practical examples adaptable to the reality. In the first two learning units (UA) will be presented the geoprocessing features existing in the ArcGIS Desktop 10. x software and described the modes of creation, editing, importing, presentation, and analysis of geographic data that this tool offers. The third UA is dedicated to three-dimensional analysis with the use of the ArcGIS 3d Analyst extension. The fourth UA addresses the analysis of networks through the use of the ArcGIS Network Analyst extension. The fifth and last UA is dedicated to WebGIS based on free and open software. In this UA, some of the capabilities of the GIS available in the cloud are also presented.

Prerequisites
