Objectives
An intelligent city is one that uses technology to provide more efficient urban services, to improve the quality of life of citizens and to transform the relationship models among local actors seeking to build a new sustainable model of city life for all its inhabitants, workers , investors and tourists, in a communion capable of generating more employment and more happiness.
In this curricular unit we will address how technology has a disruptive role in this change and how digital transformation is the true lever of the construction of urban intelligence.
During the semester we will presented different case studies, which evidence the necessary integrated intervention and give the opportunity to relate the theoretical contents developed in the different curricular units of the Pos-Graduation in Smart Cities.

Teaching method
The course will include a set of seminars by invited speakers where the opportunities and challenges of building urban intelligence will be presented and discussed.
Throughout the semester students will develop a project that will be presented and discussed in the classroom.
Evaluation method
Project
The work developed by the students aims to present innovative solutions of a given city, with a view to becoming examples of study for Portuguese cities. In this scope we intend to analyze the city management model and its smart solutions, namely the use of data produced and released.
- Groups are defined by students
- Maximum number of students per group: 2
- The presentation / discussion of the project will be evaluated (30%) and the report (70%)
