Objectives

This course allows the students to develop their knowledge on Integral Calculus and Differential Calculus in R. This knowledge is particularly useful in the study and formulation of mathematical models used in the fields of Business and Economics studies.

  • Basic concepts of Logic and Set Theory;

  • Properties of the real numbers and Topology in R;

  • Sequences and Series;

  • Real functions of a real variable. Limit of a function and continuity of a function;

  • Differential Calculus in R;

  • Antiderivatives and Integral Calculus.

Regular Exam Period:

Continuous assessment elements (and their weights):

Two midterms: each with a weight of 20% of the final grade.

Final exam (and their weighting):

Normal exam: with a weight of 60% of the final grade.

Resit exam period:

No continuous evaluation.

The exam grade: is the final grade (100%).

Grade improvement in regular period:

  • Option 1:

    Two midterms: each with a weight of 20% of the final grade.

    Normal exam: with a weight of 60% of the final grade.

  • Option 2:

    Normal exam: with a weight of 100% of the final grade.

Grade improvement in resit period:

Resit exam grade: is the final grade (100%).
